Don’t make it harder for your sump pump to do it’s job

With the setup that you see in the left, any water that cannot go into the underground drain will still discharge from the basket. Never, ever send the sump pump water into the sanitary sewer. or septic system. The microbial action in a well-maintained septic system requires that the contents not get diluted by plain water.
